You know, it is possible to appreciate a piece of artwork without liking the show. And you don't /have/ to comment on every piece, especially if you don't know or like the show it comes from. If you don't care, that's cool, but don't comment saying how much you don't care. It makes the artist feel worthless and insults their work. You're basically saying "I can see you put work into this, but I'm not gonna talk about that. I'm going to talk about how much I don't care and you can't make me care, even if your piece of art is really beautiful, I refuse to talk about that aspect because I'm too focused on my own interests to bother." Can you honestly not see how you saying you don't care is more harmful than if you say nothing at all?
I already told him I was sorry, I really didn't mean it and thought that the comment did sound bad, but there's no edit button on these things. And I usually comment on his art because I like it, I tried to convey that, but obviously didn't work. I'm not a mean person and I feel really bad. And what you said isn't exactly true, I've seen some work from some other people that I know nothing about or maybe some hint of and I still comment, because I know how comments help. Again, I already told him I'm sorry, so it's up to him to accept that or not.
"Cool, I guess" is not a very polite comment or useful feedback, to be honest :/
I never expect people to be like "wow this is absolutely perfect!" but rather be honest when they see something they like or accept criticism when they dont like it, but when you say "I guess' it means you dont really care. I havent posted that to talk about the tv show, sure it's fanart, but is it a good fanart? Is the sketch nice, the colours? You not liking Breaking Bad or you finding this cool (you guess) will not help me become better in my job. So, sorry, I cannot accept your "you're welcome" because I didnt say thanks.
And you may think I am being a jerk at the moment, but if I went -let's say- to John Simm after a play and said "it was ok, I guess but I hate Harold Pinter the playwright so I cant care about your play", he'd get angry because that's a very impolite thing to say to an artist. I felt bad when I read it.
I'm very sorry Asaph, I really am, I tried to word it that it didn't sound mean, which I guess didn't work. I do like the colors you used, the background contrasts great against Jesse. I wish there was a delete comment button, because I would take back what I said. I feel really bad. And I wasn't sure about the welcome, that's why there was a question mark. So sorry, again.
Thank you. Again, I wasnt fishing for compliments, I never do, I just appreciate feedback when I can find it and I am sorry, what you wrote wasnt feedback, which I dont mind exactly, but it also made me feel bad.
